Welcome to JRC

Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation is a 500-household congregation known for its joyful spirituality, intellectual curiosity, inclusivity, and deep commitment to social justice.

We have built a highly acclaimed green building, and our rabbi has been heralded by Newsweek magazine as one of the top 25 pulpit rabbis in the United States. But most of all, JRC is about people - our members. Our congregation is as diverse as the American Jewish community, including observant and nonobservant Jews, interfaith families, blended families, people of color, gays and lesbians, believers and nonbelievers.

Join your JRC family for our informal Erev Shabbat Services led by Rabbi Rosen and Cantor Friedland near the beautiful Evanston lakefront. There's no better place to spend Shabbat in the summertime! Pack a dairy/vegetarian picnic dinner and come early to eat and schmooze.

Erev Shabbat Beach Services: What happens if it rains?
We always try hold out and go to the lakefront, but in case of rain, the whole operation - 6 pm picnic, 7 pm service - moves to the JRC Social Hall. So come rain or shine, be sure to join us! Sign up for JRC emails and receive updates.

Check Out Rabbi Rosen's New Blog
Yedid Nefesh is Rabbi Rosen's collection of musings on Judaism, Jewish life and spirituality in general. We hope it becomes one of your favorite online Jewish resources - second to the JRC website, that is!
